Banish Acne Scars With Laser Resurfacing Treatment

There is a multitude of lasers that treat numerous issues in the world of medical aesthetics. When it comes to your skin, you want a laser treatment that is both effective and won’t require weeks of recovery time.

At New Life  Aesthetics in Bakersfield, California, we perform skin resurfacing with a fractional laser. This specialized laser triggers your skin to repair and heal itself, leaving you with smoother, more evenly toned skin.

The technical details

Although there are a wide variety of lasers designed to treat various skin issues, they all work in a similar way. The laser sends a beam of concentrated energy to a target on or below your skin’s surface. That energy moves in different wavelengths and at varying speeds to perform the treatment you need.

A fractional laser, which we use to treat acne scarring, has a specialized lens that breaks up the beam of energy before it hits your skin. Depending on your needs, it may also hit your skin at varying intensities.

Tricking your body

The energy from the laser essentially tricks your body into reacting as if you’ve been injured. The fractional laser creates a vibration in the cells under your skin, triggering a healing response.

That healing response includes the creation of new collagen. Collagen is the substance that gives skin a taut, smooth appearance. Your body also produces new skin cells, which results in a fresher, younger look.

Thanks to the additional collagen, your skin will be smoother, have fewer apparent scars, and will also be tighter.

Your time is important

Some laser skin treatments require days, and sometimes weeks, of recovery time. The procedure we use at New Life Aesthetics does not. You may experience some redness for a few hours and increased sensitivity for a few days, but that’s it.

Protecting yourself from the sun is critically important before and after treatment to avoid sun damage. However, our staff will make sure you understand exactly how to protect your sensitive skin and will also make sure you have the necessary products to do so.

You won’t need much time for the appointment itself, either. The laser treatment is done in our office, and most treatments take 30 minutes to two hours, depending on your needs.

Your skin is unlike anyone else’s skin. Our staff will provide individualized treatment tailored specifically to your skin.
